บทคัดย่อ :
Dry deciduous dipterocarp forest is a type of dry forest that is
distributed throughout the mainland of South Asia and the
Indochina region. Its ecological characteristics include an
open canopy and it is composed of small-to-medium-sized
xeric species. Most tree species shed their leaves during the
dry season and new leaves flush before the beginning of the
rainy season. Productivity and vegetation levels of dry
deciduous dipterocarp forest are influenced mainly by soil
factors, seasonal rhythms and responses to some microclimatic
influences. The species diversity of endemic and rare plants in
dry deciduous dipterocarp forest in Thailand was explored by
the establishment of temporary plots. The results found 21
endemic species and 38 rare species, composed of 34
dicotyledonous angiosperm species, 23 monocotyledonous
angiosperm species, 1 cycad species and 1 species of fern allies.
The family with the highest number of species was the
Orchidaceae (14), followed by the Euphorbiaceae (8) and the
Lamiaceae (5). These results indicated that dry deciduous
dipterocarp forest is a unique plant community and very
important for plant conservation purposes.
