Species composition and abundance of rotifers were investigated in Sakaerat Environment
Research Station, Nakhon Ratchasima province. Samples were collected in three seasons,
comprised rainy season (September 2013), cold season (January, 2014) and hot season (May,
2014). Nine physio-chemical parameters of water were measured. A total of seventy six
species belonging to 23 genera was encountered. Of this number, 28 species belongs to the
genus Lecane. The highest species richness was recorded in rainy season (58 species). The
highest Shannon-Wiener index was encountered in hot season (2.51), whereas the highest
species evenness was recorded in cold season (0.86). The maximum abundance of rotifers
was recorded for rainy season (241.49 ind.L-1), followed by hot season (196.98 ind.L-1) and
cold season (117.12 ind.L-1). Filinia longiseta (Ehrenberg), Brachionus quadridentatus
Hermann and Hexarthra intermedia (Wiszniewski) were the most abundance species in rainy,
cold and hot seasons, respectively. Moreover, water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen,
nitrate content and total ammonia were statically significant difference in three seasons.
