บทคัดย่อ :
The diet of common palm civets (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) was investigated at Sakaerat Biosphere Reserve, Thailand from January to December 2008. Total of 162 scats were collected along the main road, forest trails, and fire breaks and they were analyzed for food items and used to calculate seasonal diet. Small mammals were the major diet of civets (%F = 53.70, %Vm = 51.84), especially yellow rajah rat (Maxomys surifer). However, fruits were also important diet of civets (%F = 37.65, %Vm = 34.75). The widest dietary niche breadth was showed in the rainy season (B = 0.169). Dietary niche overlap was high among seasons. The diets of civets varied among seasons, but no dietary shift between animals and fruits occurred Civets may adjust their food resources depended on abundance and availability of food items in each season.
